Unless you’re George Costanza, you would probably appreciate something that cuts down your wallet’s bulk. While Apple Pay is a long way from universal adoption, especially for travelers abroad, Plastc offers a solution that will work anywhere you can swipe a card.
This Bluetooth device allows users to store up to 20 accounts on one card, potentially reducing your wallet to just an ID and Plastc. It works by using an EMV reader to transfer data from your credit/debit/gift/loyalty cards to a rewritable chip, with the information encrypted for user protection. The card is compatible with any type of electronic purchase, equipped with a magnetic strip, barcode, microchip and contact-less technology.
Plastc links to your smartphone and logs all your purchases into a single app, which also has features like proximity detection in case you lose your card. A touchscreen display allows users to choose accounts and enter security PINs by simply typing right on the card. The screen is powered by e-ink, which requires no power to display. If your card does run out of battery or is out of proximity from your phone, the device goes into recovery mode to prevent fraudulent charges.
Plastc does not charge any transaction fee for their devices, allowing users to freely make purchase from their Visa, Mastercard and American Express accounts. The device is also waterproof and has a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.
