Perseid Meteor Shower
This meteor shower is active for several weeks, mid-July to late August, peaking around Aug. 12–13, when you could, with the right conditions and locations, see as many as 100 meteors per hour. The best place to watch it? Anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere.
Supermoons
A supermoon appears significantly bigger and brighter than a normal full moon, and there are only two supermoons making an appearance in 2024: Sept. 18 and Oct. 17. You can see supermoons anywhere in the world, but for the best experiences, get away from light pollution.
Geminid Meteor Shower
Finally, the Geminid meteor shower makes its appearance in December, with potentially 150 meteors per hour. This year’s shower takes place early to mid-December, peaking around Dec. 14–15. The best way to view this shower is in the early morning, around 2 a.m., and, ideally, in central or eastern North America.
