Buried in the lengthy list of items to take care of before jetting off on an international trip is the arrangement of mobile phone service while abroad. While some domestic providers offer temporary global plans or packages for short-term travel, it can be difficult to choose which one will meet your needs in your destination country. To avoid returning home to an enormous cell phone bill thanks to hidden roaming fees, the Skyroam Solis hotspot is a strategic device to consider toting along with you.

The Solis hotspot from Skyroam works in more than 120 countries and, thus, can roam the globe with you as you travel worry-free from country to country without purchasing a new SIM card in each place. The hotspot is meant for the frequent traveler as the device costs a cool $150, but the 4G LTE speeds can connect to up to five devices, ensuring you’ll have a secure WiFi connection anywhere you go.

Not only does the bright orange disk keep you connected, but it also keeps your devices powered with an internal power bank that can be connected by USB cable. The hotspot’s battery lasts for more than 16 hours, meaning one charge per day should keep it active for non-stop connectivity.

The device costs $149.99 plus $8 per 24 hours of WiFi (or $99 per month). Short-term travelers can rent a Skyroam hotspot for $9.95 per day, as well. With roaming fees that can reach into the hundreds of dollars, the Skyroam Solis is a worthy investment.
