South Africa’s coastline is a treasure trove of beautiful beaches and epic waves so determining which beaches to visit is no small feat. Here are a few of the best.
South Beach, Durban
Durban is famous for its beaches, so of course it makes the list for best in the country. South Beach is perfectly located near the heart of the city and provides relaxing waves, long stretches of sand and plenty of restaurants and shops to explore nearby.
Diaz Beach, Mossel Bay
Not only is Diaz Beach stunningly gorgeous, but the gentle waves make it perfect for families. The best part, though? There are no rocks on these sands so you don’t have to worry about cutting your feet.
Sodwana Bay
At Sodwana Bay sub-tropical forests run flush against coppery-colored sand dunes making it one of the most breathtaking sites in all of South Africa. It’s far enough away from the city lights to seem relaxing while also packed enough to make it fun.
Camps Bay
Camps Bay is hands down the most popular beach in the country and the perfect tourist destination. The views are magnificent, the restaurants all delicious and there is no end to options for fun including surfing, kayaking and volleyball. It’s the type of place you see on most postcards of Cape Town.
