As one of the largest countries in the world, you could easily spend decades traveling across the United States and still not see every town it has to offer. Seward, Alaska

Seward is lovingly nicknamed the Mural Capital of Alaska because the streets are literally painted in the town’s rich history. In addition, it’s also within driving distance of the famed Iditarod trail, as well as Alaska’s storied wilderness that you can explore.

Dahlonega, Georgia

Dahlonega was home to the nation’s first major gold rush and the town worked hard to preserve this piece of history. The Gold Museum Historic Site pays homage to a nearly forgotten era of the United States, while Cirsson Gold Mine is still open to the public. It’s also located in the heart of Georgia’s wine country and at the tip of the Appalachian Trail.

Bar Harbor, Maine

There’s no shortage of beautiful towns hidden in the Northeast, but Bar Harbor is just a notch above the rest. Most famous for the 5,300,000 lobsters eaten here every year, it’s also located right on the edge of Acadia National Park, has tremendous views of the coast and has a thriving scene of boutique shops and family-owned restaurants lining the streets.

Moab, Utah

Moab has long been seen as an outdoor mecca in the United States, thanks to its abundance of biking, hiking, climbing and other pursuits. The picturesque red rock formations are out of this world and the town itself is full of amazing shops, breweries and people to meet.
