Black Diamond Recalls Carabiners and Runners

Outdoors enthusiasts would do well to take heed of the recall announcement from Black Diamond.

Taking part in extreme activities such as climbing requires complete confidence in your gear, and especially some of the most essential parts like carabiners and runners.

With that in mind the announcement from Black Diamond that it is recalling carabiners and 18mm nylon runners manufactured in 2015 is even more important. The company says there is a risk that runners will fail under standard use, and the carabiner gate may become detached.

So far no accidents have been reported, but Black Diamond has issued a recall in the interest of customer safety. A complete list of recalled products can be found at the company website.

The company is running an inspection program for all customers who purchased carabiners either alone or in a package. Should your carabiner fail the inspection, Black Diamond will replace it free of charge.

The same goes for nylon runners with a manufacturing code 2014 or 2015. Runners which fail the inspection should be returned to the manufacturer immediately.

Safety is paramount in outdoors pursuits and it is imperative you follow the inspection procedure if you own one of the affected products. Don’t play fast and loose with your life.
