For tasty Mexican food, stop by Lucha Libre. Despite the Mexican pro wrestling décor, the burritos and tacos are the real stars of this kitschy restaurant. Tacos start at $4.25 and burritos at $4.50.
The deli makes its own bread, including versions topped with cheese, garlic and jalapenos. Sandwich prices start at $7.99. There are currently three locations in San Diego, as well as one in Nevada.
A favorite among locals, this cash-only Thai restaurant serves up a variety of authentic northeastern Thai classics including curry, noodles and soups for less than $10.
Soda & Swine’s menu feels like upscale fast food. You’ll find items like customizable sliders ($3.69), mac and cheese (about $4), apple salad (about $5), spaghetti ($4) and a scotch egg ($4). The restaurant currently has two locations with slightly different menus and pricing at each.
Stop by V.G. Donut & Bakery if you have a sweet tooth. The namesake V.G. (very good) cookies, donuts and pastries are made from scratch and won’t break the bank. Donuts start at 90 cents, pastries at 75 cents and cookies at 65 cents per item.
