Tips / Destination

Mykonos is a notoriously expensive island to visit with everything from hotels to restaurants and even some beaches costing an arm and a leg to visit. However, there are a few places you can save on costs if you’re willing to forgo fine dining.

Saki’s Grill House
The easiest way to eat cheap in Mykonos is to stick with the gyros. You can find shops all over town that sell them, but one of the cheapest is Saki’s. You’ll get the most bang for your buck here with a gyro costing roughly $2.

Kalammakia Lakka
Kalammaki is also a great choice for gorging on some delicious gyros but its grill plates will save you some money too. For a generous portion of meat and pita breads, you’ll plunk down €5–8. The salads are only €4.

Ornos Bakery
If you’re dining for two there’s probably no better option than Ornos. This delicious little bakery sells sandwiches at affordable prices. A meal for two with sandwiches, drinks and dessert will only run you €10.

Gelarte Ice Creams
When the craving for something sweet hits, do yourself a favor and seek out Gelarte. It’s tucked away next to the more famous (and expensive!) Captain’s, but inside you’ll find a menu full of giant waffles slathered in ice cream. One of these whoppers will only run you around €8.
