While just a few years ago, the travel industry may’ve been worried about business travel returning to its pre-pandemic numbers, according to a new Hotels.com study, that worry is no more. Business travel is back — and even more, it’s busier than ever for some travelers.
The new study found 37 percent of Americans say they travel more for work now than they did before the pandemic. Those who do have to travel for work are spending an average 10 nights per year on the road, with workers in tech and trades traveling most often. Gen Z workers are likewise traveling the most for their jobs overall, compared to other generations.
The study also looked at trends among business travelers. A few data points of note?
The amenity business travelers want most while traveling for work is simply a free hotel breakfast. June and September are the most popular months for business travel. Bleisure continues to be an expected perk of the process. As for the destinations business travelers most want to head to for their next trip, they’re picking New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, London and Tokyo as their top five.
