Bla Bla Car is a rideshare service aimed at making it easy for travelers to save cash on transportation, either by grabbing a ride with someone who’s going their way, or selling empty seats in their car to save on fuel costs. It’s easy and simple — all you have to do is sign up for a free account and enter in your departure and arrival points. You can customize your settings to indicate your preferences, like whether or not you prefer to ride in a car that has been smoked in or that animals ride in or will be riding in.
If you’re a passenger, you contact drivers who happen to be going the same direction, then pay the fee online. Fees are based off of distance traveled and estimated fuel costs. Bla Bla Car is not about drivers making a profit — it’s simply about cutting fuel costs. Drivers can also offer rides or accept ride requests they feel may be a good fit. You can even choose to set up a rideshare for multiple dates. For example, if you decide you want to share a ride to work each day, or go home and back from university over the holidays with the same individual. If you’re a female driver or rider, you can also choose to ride with females only, using the tool’s Ladies Only feature.
After your trip, you can leave a rating for your driver or passenger. Ratings always go through an approval process to ensure only fair reviews are left. The number of positive ratings you receive helps increase your experience level, which will help you connect with other drivers and passengers who have high experience levels as well. Experience levels are based off of positive reviews, profile completeness and how long you’ve used the service.
Bla Bla Car is currently available to travelers in the following countries: the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Russia, Poland, Turkey, Serbia, Ukraine, Romania, Portugal, Poland, India and Mexico.
