Adventure

Beneath the of the Texas Hilly Country and the Chihuahuan Desert lies one of the world’s most beautiful caves, the Caverns of Sonora. The winding passages of the caverns are 155 feet below the surface and home to corridors of hanging crystals so low you can touch them.

People from all over the world come to see them up close, and now’s your chance to go off path for a unique experience on the Discovery Challenge Adventure.

An experienced caver will take you off the beaten path of the tours where you can experience the caverns like a real caver yourself. You’ll rappel 50 feet into the Devil’s Pit and wind your way through passages where speleothems hang so low you’ll have to duck to get under them.

Since the passages are so narrow, you’ll only be allowed to bring a camera in order to ensure you fit through — wouldn’t want to get stuck underground after all!

The tour guides provide all necessary equipment; you’ll just have to bring your own nerve. Tour is a minimum of two people with a maximum of six. The entire trek lasts approximately four hours.

The Discovery Challenge Tour requires advanced booking so call ahead.
