Weddings / Wedding

The most northerly nation in the United Kingdom may be famous for rain and gloomy weather, but the summer months offer great conditions for a beautiful wedding.

Scotland is a land of rugged countryside and enchanting scenery, perhaps best embodied by the famous lochs, or lakes, which dot the country. The scenery, the culture and the friendly locals combine to make Scotland a truly romantic choice for a destination wedding.

One absolutely breathtaking venue is Cameron House Loch Lomond, which overlooks one of the most famous lochs in Scotland. Situated just an hour from Edinburgh and 30 minutes from Glasgow, Cameron House is super accessible from Scotland’s biggest cities.

Despite that the area feels isolated and sits in huge grounds your guests can explore at their leisure. Cameron House has a lot of experience with weddings and offers a huge number of different packages and options to tailor your big day to your wishes.

Another option is Eilean Dornan Castle, which has been used as a set in movies such as Highlander and The World Is Not Enough. The 13th-century castle also offers a number of packages for wedding parties.

Scotland is not the cheapest destination for a wedding, but it is an enthralling one. Both the happy couple and their guests will be amazed by the spectacular scenery, with something for everyone. Tack on a trip to the Isle of Skye after the wedding to see some of Scotland’s iconic islands.

Late spring and summer are definitely the best times to go, with the rest of the year suffering from bad weather conditions. With that in mind many venues offer discounts for winter weddings, so it’s up to you if you want to take the risk in a bid to save some money.

Glasgow and Edinburgh are well served with direct flights from North America, with Chicago, New York and Toronto among the cities on the list.
