In spite of this flexibility being seen as advantageous, many still see this as a fad of some kind and a privilege of the young and unattached. This sort of lifestyle lends itself well to freelancers and consultants, but working for emerging industries or start-ups might also allow you the freedom to do this.

You will need to have the necessary tech to keep you going, such as a phone that works internationally, an understanding of time zones when communicating with colleagues abroad and proper adapters. Keep in mind that unless you can live on little money, the lack of overhead that a digitally nomadic lifestyle brings is great, but there are other expenses and some drawbacks. You will need to pay for airplane tickets — a lot of them — your housing will always be a bit precarious if you are working on a budget — living without roommates might be a requirement — and keep in mind if you need any specialized medical attention your basic health insurance might be a source of headaches and expense. If you are mentally and financially aware of these risks, however, then take the plunge. These strategies can put your plan into action.
