Airports are no longer just for catching your flight. Offering events, world-class dining, shopping and more, it’s time to schedule a layover, so you can truly explore these airports and their amenities to the fullest.
A Visit to the Museum
The first airport to host its own museum, Schiphol Amsterdam Airport is home to an annex of the Rijksmuseum, displaying Dutch art and history. The exhibits always change and you can go for free as a passenger.
What About the Golf Course?
At Hong Kong International Airport, you can easily work on your golf swing at the SkyCity Nine Eagles Golf Course (USGA-approved, by the way). You can rent your clubs while there, so you can easily fit in a game while waiting on your next flight. Plus, floodlights make it easy to play no matter the time of day.
Beer Brewed On-Site
Munich Airport has its own brewery, Airbrau, where you can enjoy a Bavarian-style pub with a beer garden and more. You can learn all about the beer brewed at the airport with a tour, or you can just sit and sip in style.
When You Gotta Yoga
At San Francisco International Airport, head to the 150-square-foot yoga room to get in your daily practice and work out some stress before your flight. The quiet, sparse room is just the spot.
Swim in Style
At Terminal 1 at Changi Airport in Singapore, you can buy (affordably) a $13 entry fee to the rooftop pool and jacuzzi. Entry comes with one complimentary drink and access to the shower facilities. Plus, it’s open 7 a.m.–11 p.m.
Sweat it Out
Headed somewhere chilly or just coming back from the same? Go to the sauna at Helsinki Vantaa International. It overlooks the runway and you even have views of the Kolvanki Lake.
