Doubtful Sound is one of the many reasons New Zealand is considered quite possibly the most beautiful place on Earth. The giant fiord is located in the same region as the arguably more famous Milford Sound, but offers just as many extraordinary sights to behold.
Real Journeys offers the Doubtful Sound Overnight Cruise so you can enjoy the peacefulness of this secluded area even when the sun goes down, while you float along the water.
The Fiordland Navigator, your ship for this adventure, includes an observation lounge, full bar and dining area and spacious viewing decks, along with private cabins or a few dorm-style rooms with bunks. The trip includes meals like a three-course dinner buffet as well as a hot breakfast.
Along the way you might run across groups of penguins, seals or even a dolphin pod or two. You won’t be stuck on the ship the whole time, either. There are a couple of stops along the way where you’re free to hop to the shoreline, take a short kayaking trip or go swimming.
The prices are reasonable, starting at $417 per adult. Kids are welcome, too. Trips are offered between September and May, so be sure to book for a time when the weather is warm for the best experience.
