Tips / Travel

It’s the holiday season and for many of us that means it’s time to stock up on food, party supplies and gifts — all of which can take a toll on your wallet. While there are many ways to save money when shopping, nothing beats a price tag of $0. Whether you just want to try a few samples, or you’d like to pamper yourself or others with a free treat, here are websites to visit so you can get cool stuff without paying a dime.

Freeflys.com

This website provides coupons for free products (food, beauty and toys), lists all the companies giving out free samples and provides links to special offers.

Teenfreeway.com

Though directed toward teens, there are plenty of great freebies to be found at this website. From beauty products to books and magazines, they have a good selection to fit anyone’s interests.

Rewardsgold.com

While they might try to get you to make a purchase, Rewardsgold is great for getting free subscriptions to magazines and newspapers. The more you sign up for, the more points you earn and those can be used toward other offers or entering sweepstakes.

Download apps like Savings Catcher from Walmart (you’ll get money back on a gift card if the retailer finds something you bought being sold for less by other vendors) and the Starbucks app (weekly free apps and song downloads and free drinks after earning points).

Make sure to join free rewards programs offered by your favorite stores. At Sephora, you can use your points (which rack up fast) for generously sized samples. Walgreens lets you use your points to get $5 or more off a purchase and offers special deals for members.

Don’t knock a free trial. Once you get the confirmation your free order is on its way, make sure to remember to cancel your subscription. Plenty of companies offer free trials (like food companies Graze, Naturebox and entertainment companies Netflix and Redbox).
