When you think of the perfect late spring escape, where do you imagine yourself staying? A beach resort? A luxury hotel in the city? What about a Scottish cottage?
Situated in the Scottish countryside, but still within a quick drive of both Edinburgh and Glasgow, Monzie Estate offers a sprinkling of romantic cottages in a rural setting, as well as a 17th-century castle and the 19th-century, turreted East Gatehouse Lodge. Whichever accommodations you choose, you’ll enjoy a mix of history and modern amenities. For example, East Gatehouse Lodge still displays period features like a spiral staircase and Edwardian bath, while a recently refurbished cottage, Burnside, is powered entirely by the estate’s 1950s hydro plant.
During a stay, guests can enjoy rambling across the expansive estate, as well as the walking routes around the area. However, the nearest town is just a few miles away. There, Crieff offers dining and shopping, and the Highland games in the late summer. Golf and fishing are also nearby.
Intrigued? Rates start at just more than $100 per night for individual rooms in the five-bedroom historic Mill House, each room with its own en suite, and rates are inclusive of continental breakfast.
