One of the most exciting and challenging adventures you can take in Wales is in Pembrokeshire with Celtic Quest Coasteering.
With activities like exploring caves, rock climbing and cliff jumping, coasteering takes on many different definitions. It’s an active experience that uses minimal equipment for you to feel closer to nature and allow you to freely explore a rocky coastline.
Celtic Quest Coasteering offers a wide variety of activities unlike any other outdoor experience. There are caves to explore, cliffs to climb and jump from and a unique experience the website describes as the “toilet flush.” This allows explorers to have the natural current take their body along on a wild ride, which some have described as a mixture between kayaking without a boat and a natural waterslide.
From August to November, you may be able to get up close with some marine life. The Pembrokeshire Coast is home to Atlantic grey seals and their pups, so as you’re rock jumping or adventure swimming, you may find yourself face to face with some wildlife. They do warn for you to be careful as they are wild animals, but usually do not typically harm humans so there is no need to be alarmed.
Coasteering uses minimal equipment for you to feel closer to nature and allow you to explore freely. This company does supply helmets and wetsuits, along with other safety equipment like life jackets and kneepads. You are always under the watchful eye of your coasteering guide and can be given tips on how to proceed if you ever feel like you are unsure of how to get down from a climbing spot or large rock (although he may recommend you to simply jump into the water).
Coasteering is perfect for adventurers looking for an athletic activity that’s unlike any other, and is sure to give you a ton of stories to tell when you get home.
