If your love for Lord of the Rings knows no bounds, then you might be delighted at a chance to step into The Shire itself. Okay, it’s not the real Shire, but it is the filming location for the movie.
Hobbiton Tours is offering a special trip through the filming locations of The Shire from the trilogy in New Zealand. The tour takes you through the Hobbit Holes, the Mill, the Green Dragon Inn and other familiar locales along the Kaimai Ranges where the filming took place.
They offer both daytime tours and dinner tours, in which you’ll be treated to both a drink and a meal at the Green Dragon Inn. Of course, you won’t just be eating any old food; they feed you traditional hobbit food from the books and movies. After dinner, you’ll wind your way back through the hilly town with a personal lantern and guide.
Your tour guide will share interesting facts about how the sets were created and why they’re still standing today. It’s really a great treat for anyone who loves the films or even just a nice daytrip for those with children wanting to experience something new.
Tours prices start at $79 for adults.
