Grab your marshmallows and sleeping bag — June marks the celebration of National Camping Month. Take this time to celebrate the great outdoors with our tips for making the most of National Camping Month.

Explore a National Park. Plan an excursion to a park you’ve always wanted to visit. Check out the National Park Service’s website to find the best park for you.

Have a sleepover. Calling back to the days of sleepovers and summer camps, host a backyard sleepover for your friends and family. Grab s’mores fixings, prepare your best scary stories and tell your friends to pack their sleeping bags. Elevate the sleepovers of the past with wine and a meat and cheese plate.

Go glamping. Not a fan of roughing it? Try the glamping trend. A new word for glamorous camping, there are many different destinations and lodging options available for experiencing luxury while camping.

Host a movie night. If planning a trip doesn’t work for your schedule, enjoy the camping experience from the comfort of your own home. All genres of film celebrate the camping tradition; some popular options include The Blair Witch Project, The Great Outdoors and Wild.

Volunteer. Donate your time or money to a charity or organization supporting environmental awareness issues.

Massive Resort Planned for Florida’s Forgotten Coast

Known as Florida’s Forgotten Coast, this stretch of the Florida Panhandle is often overlooked for more well-known destinations in the state, such as Panama City Beach, Miami and Tampa. But the region’s quiet and laid-back atmosphere slowly draws travelers wishing to escape the crowds and high prices of Florida’s other cities, and one hospitality brand just announced plans to bring a 55-acre resort and community to the area.
