Thailand is one of the world’s top tourist destinations and Bangkok is the hub of it all. Just a couple of years ago, Mastercard ranked Bangkok the top global destination for international visitors. The city is rich with culture, from Buddhist temples to street markets packed through every alley, so it’s hard to get bored and see the same thing twice.
You’ll have plenty of time to explore the streets and get lost in the markets, so if you want to see the sights with limited distractions, check out a river cruise. There are many options that will take you up and down the river through floating markets and past historic temples all from a long Thai river boat that will give you the full experience. It takes about two hours and costs $35 per person.
A ride in a tuk tuk is something you can’t skip while you’re in Bangkok. The streets are packed on the daily with cars, motorbikes and bicycles with seats on the back. Your driver is likely skilled in zipping through it all quickly so hold on tight.
If you’re looking to do some shopping, check out MBK Mall. Its levels and levels of stores will feel like the $0.99 store warehouse with good-quality items. Everything is so cheap, you might have to pick up another duffle bag to bring things home.
The nightlife in Thailand is alive and well. It will be hard to walk around and not stumble into a bar that will provide a good story. If you’d like to have the night more planned, try out a cooking class in the city. Most come with a guided walk through a local market to find fresh ingredients before you start, so you’ll really get to taste, touch and feel the culture.
