Trends / LGBTQIA+

Luxembourg City recently legalized same-sex marriage in the last two years and the country itself is something of a bastion for LGBTQ Europeans and travelers. Though small, the capital city offers plenty to do for members of the community.

Each year the city holds Gay Mat, Luxembourg’s version of Gay Pride, mostly just a small street party celebrating the LGBTQ community. There are a host of gay-friendly establishments around town including Donna’s Heaven, which showcases many drag cabaret performances, and Fairy Tales, where you can find Saturday night dance parties.

Restaurant La Caravelle hosts occasional drag shows throughout the year; though it’s not specifically a gay establishment, per se, it’s incredibly LGBTQ friendly. As far as places to stay, you’re pretty much safe to spend the night all throughout the city.
Luxembourg has always had a reputation for welcoming people from all walks of life, which is why its such a great place to visit. You can hold hands with your partner or travel with your family and not worry about experiencing any backlash here.

Luxembourg City is such a unique and wonderful city, it should be on every traveler’s bucket list, LGBTQ or not, so go ahead and give it a try.
