Drink lots of water and remember to hydrate — something I am sure your mom ingrained in your mind before you went outside to play in the hot summer heat. There are many ways to hydrate besides drinking gallons of water. One in particular is spending time in a mineral spring.

Mineral springs are naturally occurring springs that produce water-containing minerals, giving it a therapeutic value. They are known for their healing attributes and stress relief. The natural mineral-rich waters consist of calcium, iron and magnesium, and greatly benefit the health of your skin, relieve pain and boost your physical and mental wellness.

Mineral spring spas, developed around naturally occurring mineral springs, have been valued for quite some time. Various hotels offer guests the opportunity to spend time in mineral spring waters in either a pool or spa. Allow time to pass by and let your muscles unwind.

Mineral springs can come out of the earth at a cool or hot temperature. If the water is hot, there is geo-thermal activity in the area and the mineral water is heated before it rises from the Earth’s crust. This water is known as a hot spring. Hot springs are known to have the same therapeutic effect as mineral water except they have a greater mineral content and are more easily absorbed through the skin.

Some of the top mineral spring resorts in the U.S. are the Omni Bedford Springs Resort in Bedford, Pa.; Wilbur Hot Springs in Wilbur Springs, Calif.; the Omni Homestead Resort in Historic Hot Springs, Va.; and Glenwood Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs, Colo. Check out some 17 of the best hot springs in the United States.
