Europe

Consuming beer in Munich, Germany, goes hand in hand with drinking afternoon tea in England. For some of the city´s best brews, stop by the following beer halls and beer gardens that have made Munich a household name in the world of beer.

Hofbräuhaus

The most popular (and probably most crowded) location to sip a pint is in Munich´s historic and centrally located Hofbräuhaus. With seating spaces for more than 1,300 beer lovers, the tradition comes alive when a polka band takes the stage and music rings through the cavernous space.

Hirschgarten is not only the largest beer garden in Munich, but it is also the largest in the world. Approximately 1,200 guests can enjoy German brews and culinary delights like roast pork and oven-baked pretzels.

Seehaus

Located on the shores of a lake in the massive Englischen Garten, it is difficult to find a better place to kick back with a pint than this scenic beer garden. Although prices are a bit high, the ambiance makes it worth it.

Augustiner Keller

Not to be confused with the other Augustiner mentioned on this list, Augustiner Keller is an indoor beer hall with space for up to 7,000 guests. Both self-service and waiter service are available in the space that feels more like a Bavarian´s home than a public space.

Augustiner Bräustuben

Gather your friends or go solo to this traditional beer garden where long tables lend the element of social interaction to the experience. Augustiner beer is brewed in wooden barrels and is served alongside Bavarian meatballs and breaded pork schnitzel.
