How To's

Your friend or family member is getting married and you’re in charge of planning her bridal shower. This can seem like an overwhelming feat. Follow our tips to plan a memorable shower the bride will love.

First and foremost, keep the bride in mind. Make sure you cater the event to her personality and preferences. If the bride hates surprises, include her on the early planning by asking what she expects for the shower, who she would like invited and when is the most convenient date. However if she would prefer to be totally surprised, work with her fiancé to save a date and take care of all the logistics.

Websites like The Knot and Martha Stewart Weddings offer great tips and recommendations for planning all things wedding related. Sign up for their email lists for additional pointers.

Enlist bridesmaids and family members for assistance. Do you want to create a collage of childhood photos of the bride? Reach out to her mom and relatives for some funny shots. Would you like to share anecdotes about the happy couple? Ask the bride’s closest friends to share some stories.

Realize you can’t please everyone. No matter how accommodating you are planning the shower, someone will find something to dislike. Don’t worry. Accept the fact that a college friend might complain about the long drive to the venue, or a future in-law will dislike the menu choices. The shower is about the bride, so make her your priority.

Most importantly, have fun! Don’t let last-minute running around or complications take away from the special, fun day.
