Home security is no longer an expensive addition. A variety of innovative home security solutions made their way to the consumer market in the last decade, allowing people to keep on eye on their home for a fraction of what it cost before smartphones. One of the latest to join the competition is Icontrol and their Piper NV.

While there are a lot of different home security solutions out there, Icontrol provides a solid yet flexible package that can stand on its own or integrate with devices you’ve already purchased thanks to a Z-Wave hub. This is perfect if you want to pair another camera to Piper’s, which provides live and recorded video on-demand in a 180-degree field of vision. The camera can also pan, tilt, zoom and split-screen while communicating in two-way audio.

Combined with the Z-Wave hub, the Icontrol app is a powerful resource for monitoring and controlling your home security system. In addition to controlling lights and appliances, the Piper NV can check on various vitals of your home like temperature, humidity, light and noise. Users can also set up a security perimeter and receive notifications of a breach.

The Piper NV can be purchased on the Icontrol website or on Amazon for $279 and is available in either raven black or polar white.
