Whether you’re a tourist or just a lover of any particular city, Pretty Streets is the in-your-pocket guide for finding the most beautiful walking spots around. Free and available on both iOS and Android, the app creates walking paths based on the time you have, the best spots to see and the prettiest views. Not only can you choose a looping walking tour for a customized experience, but you can also just make a short walk from one point to another that much more enjoyable.
When looking at the map the app provides, you’ll see some routes are highlighted. These are the “pretty” streets. They’re picked based on a multitude of things, from city maps to geo-located pictures to traffic density to shops to monuments and beyond. The list is extensive. However, the designated streets are generally those that attract photographers, offer up a dose of history or have local dining and shopping spots. Users also make the app their own by manually highlighting certain streets or spots to indicate favorite places.
Pretty Streets started out in just a handful of cities: New York City, Montreal, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Paris and Dublin. New cities are constantly being added; however, and with a goal to add one city each week, the app has already made its way to 68 cities; more than 5,000 miles of walking paths; and thousands of different ways to go. The app is also adding cool new features like audio stories. Currently only available in Paris, more than 60 audio clips are clickable at various points on Paris walking routes, where they share interesting tidbits and anecdotes on everything from strange history to fun facts.
