If you find yourself on the Amalfi Coast looking for some of the best views of the island, and some of the best in the world, take the Mount Solaro Chairlift in Anacapri. Starting in Piazza Vittoria the chairlift takes you 589 meters above sea level on a 12-minute ride on a single chair lift — it costs about €11 for a two-way trip and €8 for one-way. The relaxing ride gives you spectacular views of the island that only get better as you ascend.
Once you reach the top and leave the lift, you are surrounded by dazzling views of the sparkling blue ocean that extends for miles beyond sight. From here you overlook the Gulf of Naples, Mount Vesuvius, the Gulf of Capri and the Isle of Ischia. Located on the peak of Solaro is a restaurant and gift shop where you can enjoy a refreshing limoncello or a bite while overlooking the scenery.
Should you choose, you can also hike to the peak on foot, which can take an hour or more depending on your speed. If you’re up to it, it’s a rewarding experience to be sure.
