When Norwegian Cruise Line launched Viva, the newest member of its fleet, last month, it reminded the world cruising on a luxury ship isn’t just for families or seniors. As a part of NCL’s Prima Class of ships, Viva offers an experience designed specifically for solo travelers, letting you get the best the ship has to offer at a price that you can afford.
Viva features 73 studio rooms that measure only 94 square feet, perfect for solo travelers looking to get the luxury cruise ship experience without the hefty price tag that comes with a stateroom designed for couples and families. The rooms are the perfect size for a single person, with everything cruise passengers have come to expect: a comfortable, full-sized bed; modern décor; a flatscreen television; a spacious bathroom; and enough storage space for both your luggage and your belongings. These unique rooms, all located in a private corridor, don’t come with a window or balcony, but you will get plenty of perks regular staterooms don’t have.
Once you enter the studio area of the ship, which can only be accessed with a specialized key card, you’ll find yourself in a private lounge is that offers the perfect escape from the commotion of the main decks. Guests of the studios are entitled to take full advantage of all the activities, restaurants, common spaces and entertainment options of the main cabins, but their private lounge offers peace and quite along with drinks, snacks, games and relaxing lounge spaces.
Within the studio lounge, the ship hosts social activities like mixers designed to help solo travelers get to know each other. In addition, studio guests are able to use the space to invite their own guests for their own private social events.
Onboard activities in the main cabins prove equally inviting for solo travelers, with events like LGBTQIA+ mixers, mixers for specific age groups and group settings like the pool decks designed to give guests a chance to interact with one another to make new friends while they share the experience of visiting fun and exciting ports of call around the world.
