It can be a risky world out there sometimes, and a situation in any part of the world can change as quickly as it takes a traveler to cross the street. While safety concerns shouldn’t stop you from exploring the globe, it’s important to be prepared for any situation while on the road. And a new mobile app from TATE Global, a provider of travel risk mitigation services, is just the tool to help travelers stay abreast of safety information, in control and prepared.

A recent survey found 80 percent of Americans feel it is more important to feel safe than to have fun while on an international trip. This is where TATE Global’s ProtecTour app comes in, providing real-time safety information to users based on the device’s location. Other key features include 24/7 monitoring, safety alerts, geo-fenced warnings, information on local embassies and hospitals where English is spoken and a panic button in case of an emergency.

The app is the only resource to use geo-tracking and human risk intelligence to keep travelers up to date, allowing them to proceed with peace of mind on their travels. ProtecTour also allows users to communicate directly with professionals versed in working with foreign authorities.

There are two subscription tiers. With Tier I, at $3.99 per month, users receive travel alerts, geo-fenced warnings, directions and contact information for key locations and panic messages to personal contacts. For $5.99 per month, Tier II includes panic messages to TATE Global and 24/7 monitoring from TATE Global.

To get started, pay for a subscription on the website, get an email with an activation code, download the app from the iTunes store and enter the code to unlock the app.
