Park City, Utah, is known for snow, ski, and Sundance. Founded by American actor Robert Redford in 1978, the Sundance Film Festival is now the largest independent film festival in the country. The annual, 10-day event screens hundreds of independent films and award-winning documentaries for fans and creative artists, Jan. 19–29.

The first week of the festival is typically industry only, filled with parties and events, while the second week is a more laid-back affair for audiences and movie buffs.

With more than 50,000 fans in attendance, moviegoers should be prepared for the most-buzzed about films to fill up quickly. Not to worry, there are typically so many films being screened during the day and night fans have no problem finding an event to attend.

Sundance’s NEXT program offers even edgier and innovative films by less well-known but highly talented artists. The NEXT category opens up even more films and events for guests to attend.

Park City, Utah, makes for an ideal location with a quaint town square filled with shops and restaurants surrounded by idyllic ski and snowboarding lodges. Ticketholders can take in much more than a film during their stay at Sundance.
