Have you ever wondered what it would be like to sleep with the fish? Well, now you can find out. Sweden’s Utter Inn is a visually appealing alternative to the classic hotel for those who are brave enough to try it.
The hotel is nothing more than a small shack situated in the middle of Lake Mälaren in Västerås, Sweden, with only one room — located three meters underwater. You’re surrounded on all sides by glass to provide panoramic views of the fish and whatever else might be swimming beneath the surface.
Above ground, in the shack, you’ll find few amenities including a hot plate, crockery, a dry toilet and 10 liters of fresh water to drink. If you purchase a deluxe package someone will boat in during the evening to deliver you dinner. Otherwise, you’re on your own!
The staff leaves you with a raft in order to float out to the nearby, uninhabited island for a peak around, in case you start feeling claustrophobic. If you’d rather just stay in, you’re free to sit on the deck and watch the scenery or hang out below and study the fish.
It’s certainly a unique experience, if not a little frightening. Prices vary throughout the year, but we imagine you can get a great deal in winter.
