During a recent visit to Portland, Ore., my husband and I stayed at The Nines. The luxury property is conveniently located in the city’s downtown, with easy access to public transportation and many popular attractions.
We arrived at the property early, ahead of check-in time. There was one room available and we decided to take it, despite the $35 early check-in fee. Our superior room on the 14th floor had an interior view of the hotel’s atrium. The bathroom was stocked with environmentally friendly BeeKind products from Gilchrist & Soames. I enjoyed the décor, with blue and tan tones in the room and marble floors with dark wood accents in the bathroom. The rainfall shower was divine. The bed was quite comfortable and I appreciated the complimentary WiFi.
The Nines has two restaurants on site, as well as in-room dining. We decided to have a quick bite at the rooftop restaurant, Departure, on our last night at the property. Unfortunately, as the restaurant is quite popular and we didn’t have a reservation, we had to wait. We put in our names and stood by the bar, watching for a spot to open. Luckily, one seat opened and a bus boy brought an extra chair for my husband as he saw us walk to the seat. The menu is modern Asian and we split a few plates so we could experience more.
Our trip was short; however, a stay at The Nines helped us feel as if we were at home.
