The Bund
The waterfront area is a must-see for first-time visitors. The promenade boasts examples of older architecture mixed with modern skyscrapers. The area is popular for locals and tourists alike.
Longhua Temple
Longhua Temple is the oldest and largest temple in Shanghai. The seven-story pagoda features five main halls with ornate sculptures and Buddha likenesses.
Nanjing Road
Nanjing Road is the main shopping street in Shanghai. The street spans several miles, and boasts retailers from all over the world, plus local shops and restaurants. As this is a popular tourist area, be mindful of your belongings while shopping.
This tower is one of the more recognizable highlights from Shanghai’s skyline. Construction of the tower was completed in 1994. The tower features 11 spheres of various sizes and was the tallest structure in Shanghai until 2007 when the Shanghai World Financial Center building was erected.
Yu Garden
The botanical garden is located in Shanghai’s Old Town. The extensive garden is next to the City of God Temple. Created during the Ming Dynasty as a private garden, it opened to the public in 1961.
