Top 5 / North America

Get your haunt on with these five great theme parks around the country, all decked out in their spooky finest for Halloween.

Universal Orlando

The Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal run though Nov. 4, with some awesome attractions and haunted houses themed around your favorite classic horror films and shows, from The Shining to American Horror Story. There are nine haunted houses and five Scare Zones in total, with each Scare Zone having its own theme, including said to be best left for the extreme horror fans.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

The Howl-O-Scream celebration at Busch Gardens is bringing a new twist to its annual event this year. Two of the seven haunted houses are new, and three of the five Scare Zones are new as well, with themes revolving around carnivals, cannibals and the schoolyard. Howl-O-Screen runs through Oct. 29.

Disney’s California Adventure Park

For a more family-friendly option, visit Disney’s California Adventure Park, where they’ve made light changes here and there to some of your favorite rides, characters and attractions. Nothing will be too terribly scary for the kids (or the kids at heart) in attendance. The fun lasts through Oct. 31.

Six Flags Magic Mountain

Each Six Flags park has its own Halloween extravaganza leading up to the holiday, but some say Six Flags Magic Mountain does it best. The Fright Fest includes more than a dozen Halloween attractions, which all come out after dark.

Cedar Point

Halloweekends at Cedar Point offer something for both the kiddos and those looking for something a little spookier. During the daytime, children are offered a tamer version of what’s to come when the sun goes down and the cast of chilling creatures comes out to play.
