This region suffered a lot in the last 20 years and tourism may not seem like the most important focus. For all countries, however, tourism is one of the first signs of economic health and recovery. It is also the telltale sign of decline; 2018 is set to usher in a renewed wave of tourism for countries like Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Dubai. Planning a trip to any of these countries is easier than ever and there are many resources at your disposal.

One company specializing in trips to the Middle East is Intrepid Travel. This small group travel company has been around since 1988 and offers affordable and interesting tours. The World Tourism Organization predicted 2018 would be a record year for travel to the Middle East, and Travel Weekly supports this prediction with some fresh numbers.

Even though tourism to countries like Turkey is down, Tel Aviv and Beirut saw a spike in visitors. So if Petra, Jordan, has always been a dream destination for you, this year could be the time to go. Keep in mind before traveling or even planning a trip, it is a good idea to check the State Department’s list of travel advisories to be sure there are no existing concerns with your destination.
