Trends / Top Trends

We’ve all heard of nudist tourism: vacations where the duration is spent nude, mingling with other guests and celebrating the body as nature intended. There are even designated resorts and regions for this kind of travel. A new trend along similar lines is becoming more well known in the travel landscape and revolves around connecting with fellow travelers in a slightly different — and more intimate — way.

Naughty tourism — also known as libertine tourism — is a branch of travel that has actually existed for many years but has flown under the radar as the nature of such travel is not a topic that would come up at your average dinner party. Naughty travel involves traveling for sexual reasons, whether to embark on a vacation with a spouse to a swingers’ resort or to take part in a cruise that celebrates sexual expression and freedom.

Naughty tourism differs from sex tourism, as prostitutes are not a factor, nor is paying people for sexual acts. Parties are held all over the world and usually carry a high price tag, though. For a spot aboard Cruise Desir, travelers have to pay up to $10,000 per ticket to climb on board and take part in erotic games, parties and shows en route from Venice, Italy, to Croatia. This growing subset of travel rakes in a cool $20 billion per year, making it the hottest travel trend you’ve never heard of.
