Under $100: Galveston, Texas

Grab weekend breakfast or brunch at Farley Girls, a casually quaint eatery that’s a Galveston favorite. Choose from a variety of affordable, delicious options, including Chicka Tacos (scrambled eggs, black beans, pico de gallo and feta) for $5 or the 8^th and Post Office (BBQ pork hash with a fried egg) for $8.

Explore the shores of Galveston Island State Park, where visitors can swim, fish, bike and walk the four miles of boardwalks and trails. Admittance is $5.

For an elegant lunch on a budget, stop by Porch Café for one of their excellent small plates. Options include watermelon and shrimp, fried green tomatoes, kimchi medley, pork crostinis, Cajun beach balls (that’s meatballs with grits and peach BBQ sauce) and more — all for $12 or less.

Pay a visit to The Bryan Museum, where visitors will find exhibits dedicated to the art and history of the American Southwest. Exhibits feature artifacts from the Mexican-American War, Mexican Revolution, Spanish Colonial period and artwork from the Renaissance period onward. Adult tickets are $10.

Spend the evening on Galveston’s historic Pleasure Pier, where you can find an array of amusement rides, boardwalk games, shops and food. Admission is only $10 and you can pay for individual ride tickets once on the pier.
