Food & Drink

After Portland, Ore., won Trazee Travel’s Favorite Foodie City award in July, Bon Appétit presents Feast Portland, Sept. 15–18. Now in its fifth year, the food and drink festival celebrates the flavors of the Pacific Northwest, with a full schedule of events, workshops and more to keep you entertained and delightfully stuffed with the best bites from the region.

Choose from five main types of activities when you visit. There are the main events, the Bon Appétit dinner series, classes, “fun-size” events and drink-inspired events. Thursday night’s main event is the Sandwich Invitational, with 14 chefs battling it out to create the best thing between sliced bread, with attendees voting for their favorites. On Friday, main events include the Grand Tasting, featuring more than 80 vendors, and the night market. Drink Tank sessions are more geared toward libation education, and Friday boasts sessions on Washington wines, aperitifs and cider.

Saturday’s lineup is a bustling bevy of more of the same, with main events including a smoker session and another Grand Tasting. Drink Tank sessions include topics such as daiquiris, beer versus wine and more. For those interested in the hands-on classes, though, Sunday is the day to go. Choose from workshops on buying and cooking salmon, the world of tea, the Bon Appétit test kitchen, mixology and food styling and photography.

With a little something for everyone, Feast Portland is a must-visit for foodies all over the country. Events are selling out fast, though, so be sure to get your tickets soon. In addition, net proceeds from the event are donated to Partners for a Hunger Free Oregon.
