While Sedona may not seem like a winter getaway destination due to its higher temperatures and abundant sunlight, it’s actually one of the best times of year to visit.
During the spring and fall, Arizona sees large crowds for the ideal weather, while winter offers the advantage of fewer crowds and more affordable hotel rates, in addition to winter-exclusive events and experiences.
With average high temperatures around 50 degrees, winter is comfortable and mild — ideal for hiking through the region’s diverse landscapes in parks like Oak Creek Canyon and Slide Rock State Park. Pet-friendly trails include West Fork Trail, Bell Rock Pathway and Margs Draw.
Maintain your New Year’s resolutions at Sedona’s VegFest, Jan. 20–21, a popular event celebrating the plant-based diet and lifestyle with presentations by world-renowned experts, cooking demonstrations and more.
On Feb. 3, the Sedona Marathon takes participants through the beautiful Coconino National Forest, known for its iron-clad formations, and Feb. 8–11 is the Sedona Yoga Festival, taking place at several locations throughout the city.
When the temperatures drop into the 40s and 30s in the evening, head into town and visit Sedona Heritage Museum, Jordan Historical Park, art galleries, spas and eclectic boutiques in Crafts Village.
