Top 5 / Latin America

Argentina is famous for its red meat with good reason, and the capital, Buenos Aires, offers a huge number of restaurants offering variations on steak.

The following restaurants range from famous, more expensive restaurants to cheaper alternatives in less-frequented areas of town. Wherever you go in Buenos Aires you will find meat, but nowhere does it better than these places.

Don Niceto

It may look like a roadside diner, but Chef Luis built a dedicated following of locals who don’t like to give away the address of this family favorite.

La Cabrera

Located in the Palermo district, La Cabrera is one of the rare cases in which fame, and guidebook features, are fully merited. The menu even features Kobe beef.

Club El Progreso

For old-world opulence, head to El Progreso in Monserrat, which was frequented by generations of Argentinian presidents. It’s not cheap but the quality of meat is famous among a highly discerning population.

El Desnivel

Stop into El Desnivel after a long day walking around the old town of San Telmo. Order a steak sandwich and stand at the bar as the locals do, washing your food down with a local beer as you discuss the day’s events.

El Bagual

Another favorite among locals, El Bagual is located out near the hippodrome and has built a name based on its food, its location near the river and its friendly atmosphere.
