Great Falls is a moderately sized city in the beautiful state of Montana. Though it doesn’t pack the amenities of a larger city, it still has plenty of attractions and beautiful scenery to explore. Traveling here for the day on a budget is simple.
Start with breakfast at 2K’s Café, a dive joint popular among the locals thanks to generous portions and some great burgers. The morning fare is great too and you can’t go wrong with one of the omelets. Set aside $15 for a meal.
Next you’ll want to take advantage of the cool morning temperatures to explore some parks. Make your way to Giant Springs State Park and take a walk on the many nature trails to take in the state’s natural beauty. From there, head to Ryan Dam to take a peek at the namesake falls.
For lunch, seek out MacKenzie River Pizza Co. for an extensive list of thin crust options. A slice of pizza here is only $5 with a drink.
Begin your afternoon by walking through the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. This interactive museum chronicles the journey of the famed voyagers as they made their way out West. There are artifacts and educational videos to enjoy and entrance is $8 per person.
Afterward seek out the Malmstrom Air Force Base Museum. It’s located on an active military base and contains some of the country’s most interesting and awe-inspiring planes. Entrance is free for American citizens.
For dinner, head to Jakers Restaurant. Everything on the menu is delicious but the rolls and honey butter are the real delight in this joint. A meal here will run you roughly $30.
