Located on the South Island of New Zealand, Wanaka is a resort town bursting with luxury accommodations, adventure activities and seemingly untouched natural beauty.
Head to Wanaka Lakefront and take in the idyllic views of Roys Bay. Take a boat out on the water and enjoy the scenery before heading to Wanaka Recreational Reserve, Lismore Park and Eely Point Recreational Reserve, lining the waterfront.
Pay a visit to Wanaka Lavender Farm for $2–5. Stroll through the purple-dusted fields visiting beloved farm animals from alpacas, sheep, chickens and beehives to Koko the pig and Milly and Kristen, the resident cows. Enjoy lavender tea and ice cream using homegrown ingredients and honey and take some soap and essential oils to go.
Head to the Puzzling World of Wanaka for $14–18 a ticket and explore the 3D maze and illusion rooms.
Splurge on dinner and enjoy food and drinks with a view at The Landing. Enjoy small to large plates, $12–24, or go over earlier for a small bite and a cocktail. Either way you’ll have the relaxing opportunity to take in the incredible resort town with excellent service and innovative menu options, from potted roast carrot cream and creamy onion Hoki soup to beef cheek ravioli and soft shell crabs.
