First of all, look for a board that suits you. Beginner boards need to be big and soft so you can handle them more easily, and those who are taller and heavier, especially, need a big board.

This means it’s not technically a soft board and will hurt if you hit someone with it, so you should be confident in your ability not to wipe out and hit someone.
