Switzerland is a famous downhill skiing destination, but there are more ways to experience winter sports in the country than just by zipping down the slopes. Here are three other can’t-miss winter sports experiences to enjoy this winter in Switzerland.
Ride the St. Moritz-Celerina Olympia Bob Run
The St. Moritz-Celerina Olympia bob run is the only natural bobsled track in the world, as well as the oldest bobsled track in the world. The track is created via snow, water and manpower only, unlike ice tracks you’ll find in the rest of the world. It was used in two Winter Olympics Games and now you can ride it for yourself.
Try Out Your Freestyle Skills at Flims Laax Falera
Everyone downhill skis in Switzerland — try something different at Europe’s largest snow park. This freestyle park welcomes skiers and snowboarders with the largest halfpipe in the world and five individual snow parks combined into one.
Strap on Snowshoes and See the Sights
If you’d prefer a winter sport a little more low-key and not quite so high-energy, try snowshoeing. St. Moritz is a great spot to try this activity, suitable for most fitness levels. Additionally, most resorts either offer snowshoes for rent or are able to tell you where to find some.
