4 Houseplants You Just Can’t Kill

Houseplants can be a challenge for frequent travelers. If you have anything a bit time consuming or high maintenance, you may come back from a trip to find your plant sadly perished. Try to invest in plants that not even the most absentminded house sitter can kill, something that can go for days with minimal water. Here are four options to consider.

Money Trees

A money tree, otherwise known as the Guiana Chestnut tree, is a small, potted tree that can be found at most supermarkets. Most money trees you buy in the store are potted in too-small containers, but if you re-pot your money tree into something slightly larger, it can thrive with little care. A few spritzes of water every day or so from a water bottle, and you’re good to go.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera plants aren’t just good to have around for the occasional household first aid needs, they’re also pretty hearty. Needing even less water than the money tree, and a small spot on a windowsill, this is one low-maintenance plant. Literally, you can leave it for up to two weeks with no watering or care whatsoever.

Christmas Cacti

Christmas cacti can live in a dim apartment by the window, with a few spritzes of water every few days. They thrive in normal household temperatures (around 68 degrees) and grow at a slow, steady pace before eventually flowering.

Snake Plants

Snake plants are known for air purifying qualities. They can grow to great heights and are nicely decorative in just about any space. All you have to do to ensure a healthy snake plant is place it in a bright area and water it whenever its potting soil is dry. That’s it!
