Destinations / North America

Charlotte, North Carolina’s food scene is so much more than southern fare and barbecue, though you can’t go wrong with either. Infused with international influence, incorporating a wealth of local ingredients and supported by enthusiastic locals, Charlotte’s food scene is one that deserves more attention from travelers. If you’re headed there soon, here are four must-try restaurants.

The King’s Kitchen

Enjoy a delicious menu of casual southern fare that benefits a good cause. This nonprofit restaurant invests in the local, impoverished population, providing not only food to the hungry, but also training and education to those in need of work.

7th Street Public Market,

At 7th Street Public Market, you’ll find an array of eateries serving delicious food at all hours. Pick up a hearty breakfast at Uptown Yolk — I highly recommend the cheesy grits and eggs — and an energizing cup of coffee at Not Just Coffee.

bardo

Bardo is an excellent spot to dine in Charlotte’s South End neighborhood. The small eatery focuses on artfully arranged small plates, with a regularly changing menu meticulously created for an impeccable dining experience. Try to grab a table near the open kitchen to watch the masterful chefs at work and don’t pass on a handcrafted cocktail from the bar.

Angeline’s

Situated inside Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel, Angeline’s offers a modern American-Italian menu in a cozy and comfortable setting. Grab a morning coffee, afternoon drink or dinner with friends or business colleagues. The menu ranges from lighter fare, such as salads, to hearty Italian dishes, like the spaghetti chitarra, with duck confit, gorgonzola, roasted mushrooms and pancetta.

With Hawaiian Airlines adding more flights between Honolulu and Austin, Boston, Las Vegas and Samoa, as well as increasing daily flights between Honolulu and Los Angeles, it’s easier than ever to travel to the Aloha State, where Romer Waikiki at the Ambassador recently debuted in the heart of Honolulu. Romer guests can expect more than the average stay, offering art, culture, music, food and experiences, as well unique amenities like off-the-beaten-path bike excursions, free surfboard rentals and a dedicated Aloha Line for personal advice and tips.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips.

Peace of Mind Walking Your Dog with Sniffspot

If you don’t have a fenced yard and it’s difficult for you to get out of the house to walk or run with Fido, then you know just how difficult it can be to get all that canine energy out, but not taken out on your couch or cabinets. If your dog isn’t the best around other dogs or people, your problems are even more difficult to overcome.
