Within the Málaga province and about a two-hour drive from the city is Ronda, a mountaintop city known for its gorge and three bridges spanning Tajo canyon. Overlooking the city is The Alcazaba, a fortification dating back to the 11th century during the Muslim-ruled Al-Andalus. The fort is considered one of the best-preserved alcazabas in Spain and is connected by a corridor to the Castle of Gibralfaro, an equally impressive structure with medieval origins.
