Speck’s MightyShell iPhone case line is impressively sturdy while also managing to be stylish and slim, so you’re not sacrificing much by protecting your phone.
The shell is constructed of two pieces, a two-time military-grade protective case and a shatter-protective faceplate made of five layers of shatter protection. All that may sound incredibly bulky, but Speck’s cases are slim, lightweight and streamlined.
Your phone sits within the main part of the case, while the faceplate is adhered to the front. Given that the faceplate is attached only via adhesive, it may initially seem like it would be difficult to attach. But Speck gives simple instructions for doing so, and in just a few minutes of careful attention, your phone is safely encased in the MightyShell.
Users lose no touchscreen functionality with the faceplate, and the rubber covers on the volume buttons are expertly placed so the buttons remain easy to use. All holes for headphones, charger, speakers and cameras are unobtrusive and take nothing away from the phone’s functionality.
Speck also provides a lifetime warranty on your purchase, so while you are paying a little more than you do with many other cases (the MightyShell retails at $59.95), you’re covered should anything happen to the case. Color choices for the MightyShell are fairly wide-ranging, with options in white, lilac, fuchsia, clear/gray, orange/blue and black.
