MSR FlyLite Tent

If you fancy yourself a minimalist and scoff at the idea of lugging around a weighty tent into the rugged outback, have a look at the MSR FlyLite Tent. Weighing in at only one pound, nine ounces, this thing is light enough to fit into any pack.

The two-person trekking pole tent is held up by, well, your trekking poles. It provides a full-protection shelter with vertical walls and enough room to let two people stretch out and lay out some gear. The large awning extends far enough to keep out rain or snow and it comes with a vent to help minimize condensation.

The fabric is lightweight, but coated to keep it durable, so you don’t have to worry about a strong wind ripping it apart. It also comes equipped with reinforced peak and corner patches to prevent tears.

It doesn’t close, so we probably wouldn’t recommend using it in the dead of winter, but it’s great for summer excursions into the mountains. The trekking poles required to make it stand are sold separately, or you can use the ones you already own.
